The Mercedes EQA compact SUV takes a bow

This compact SUV is the latest contract hire electric car to attract attention and the Mercedes EQA will undoubtedly prove to be popular.

It's based on the GLA's platform and will deliver a range of 301 miles.

Mercedes says that the price point for the EQA will help drivers access the brand with an all-round impressive offering.

Indeed, this is a premium rival to the likes of the Kia e-Niro and the Volkswagen ID.3.

It's also worth noting that this is the Mercedes’ bid to steal a march on its premium rivals BMW and Audi into the segment.

The EQA as a car leasing choice

Of the details revealed so far, the EQA as a car leasing choice is an attractive one.

Initially, the EQA will be available with just one battery choice, a 66.5 kWh battery pack, and one electric motor producing 188 bhp.

The top speed is 89 mph, and the 0 to 62 mph sprint time is 8.9 seconds.

The car is responsive and the torque of 375Nm will deliver thrills.

Future models will have two motors and, potentially, the firm's all-wheel drive offering.

Mercedes says that when the line-up is complete, anyone wanting a stylish contract hire EV capable of sprinting to 62 mph in just five seconds with a motor producing 268 bhp will find an EQA model to meet their needs.

Mercedes EQA car lease

The new Mercedes EQA car lease will have three trim levels with lots of standard equipment, including electrically adjustable seats, an ambient lighting system, faux-leather upholstery and an electrically operated tailgate.

The mid-range trim offers gold piping for the seats, a leather-trimmed steering wheel and the dashboard is back-lit to be a futuristic creation.

Mercedes fans can also look forward to an AMG Line offering, including unique 18-inch alloy wheels, stainless steel pedals, sports seats and a diffuser.

There's also lots of safety equipment and driver assistance technologies including active brake assist and active lane-keeping assist.

Options include active blind spot assist, active steering assist and acting speed limit assistance.

Features for the Mercedes EQA

Other features for the Mercedes EQA include a new system that will calculate the quickest route to a destination.

It will take into account the battery charging times as well as the weather and topography - plus the traffic to help alleviate 'range anxiety' for those who are wary about investing in an electric vehicle.

Prices for the new EQA have yet to be revealed but Mercedes has revealed that prices in Germany will be around £42,000, so it's worth checking on the Mercedes contract hire deals when the car reaches the UK’s showrooms.
