Order books open for the 2022 Mazda MX-5

This is the refreshed contract hire Mazda MX-5 for 2022 and it's available to order now.

Mazda is offering the RF 'Retractable Fastback' and convertible models to be delivered from February.

There are 10 models in the line-up, they consist of six RFs and four convertibles with a range of engine choices.

The 2022 update also includes the addition of a new platinum quartz metallic paint scheme.

Mazda MX-5 car lease

For those wanting the Mazda MX-5 car lease convertible, it comes with a 1.5-litre engine producing 132 PS.

It's offered in the SE-L and also the Sport trim.

There's also a 2.0-litre engine producing 184 PS is available for the range-topper.

For the RF, it is also powered by a 1.5-litre engine for the Sport and SE-L trims, while the other models get the more powerful 2.0-litre unit.

Also, the RF in the range's top trims have the option of an automatic transmission.

MX-5 features kinematic posture control

Mazda says its new MX-5 also features the kinematic posture control system.

This will boost cornering abilities without affecting the driver's handling or engagement.

Essentially, it works by applying a small amount of brake force to the unloaded rear wheel whenever cornering which will then pull the body down and suppress body roll.

This is a car famed for its dynamic abilities and along with the KPC system, it still offers the same mechanical setup.

0 to 62 mph time for the MX-5

The 0 to 62 mph time for the MX-5 convertible is 6.5 seconds, that's a slight 0.8 of a second improvement.

The automatic and manual models are around 0.5 seconds quicker.

There's also a more powerful engine note from the tuned main silencer for the RF versions.

Opt for the 2.0-litre model with the manual box, and drivers get to enjoy Bilstein dampers, a limited slip differential and front strut brace.

Latest version of the Mazda MX-5

The latest version of the Mazda MX-5 is still an efficient high-performance car.

There's stop-start technology for both engines, along with kinetic recovery.

Mazda says the latest version is more economic than it has ever been.

Plus, it should come as no surprise that the car's styling is untouched but then this model won the 'World Car Design of the Year' in 2015 when it made its debut.

There's a lot to like about the improvements to the contract hire Mazda MX-5 model and it's certainly a sporty car lease to consider.
